About Hampton Jones

Brian Jones

Brian graduated with an Honours degree in Building Surveying from the University of Greenwich in 1991. After becoming a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, Brian went on to complete an RICS Postgraduate Diploma in Project Management and MBA in Construction and Real Estate, both at Reading University, with his MBA dissertation based upon Dilapidations/Make Good issues in New Zealand.

Brian commenced his working career with a facilities management private practice looking after Ministry of Defence Buildings within Central London, responsible for the maintenance and repairs of buildings ranging from new residential and commercial developments to historic buildings such as the Tower of London and Horseguards Parade, with an annual maintenance budget of $36m. Brian then left to join a Corporate Real Estate firm specialising in the management of leasehold properties. Clients included AMP, Rentokil Initial, Thomas Pink, Crawford THG, Lincoln Insurance Group and Prudential Plc. Work included make good/reinstatement claims and negotiations, lease liability management, due diligence surveys, development monitoring, project management of fit-outs, renovations, new build and site remediation up to the value of $30m.

Brian left the UK as an Associate Director to join Joyce Group as the Manager of Project Management and Architecture in 2003. After completing numerous successful assignments such as the new media centre at Eden Park and re-cladding of multi-unit apartment blocks, Brian left to establish Hampton Jones in 2005 along with James Bundy.

Brian is currently the Vice Chairman of the New Zealand RICS Committee and co-author of the RICS NZ Reinstatement Guidelines which provides best practice advice and protocols for lease repairing and reinstatement claims.

Brian lives in the North Shore with his wife and two children.
