Space Planning

Planning of a space to ensure a business critical functions interact and communicate at its best is essential to the efficient operation of a business.

Whether a business is looking at re-structuring, moving or expanding, understanding how the business works and performs should dictate the size, nature and type of the building. However, often an existing building cannot be changed to the optimum format or layout, so understanding the relative strengths of each business function is imperative to ensure the space is defined to best meet the business current and future needs.

Hampton Jones has helped many clients develop and understand how a business work-flow can be practically interpreted into a space planning model to ensure they obtain the right property, or the best for their existing premises. For example, our assessment enables our clients to gain an accurate understanding of;
  • the size and nature of the premises they need before going to market to find the right property (e.g. providing a brief for an agent before issuing an RFP)
  • how a premises can be split between floors or buildings whilst still maintaining the most links between the business functions operating at its best
  • the critical services or transportation requirements needed of optimum operation of an industrial or warehouse business.

In addition to the above, we provide a detailed Due Diligence service whereby we can assess potential short-listed buildings for suitability with the space planning requirements, and provide full design and project management services for relocation of businesses to their chosen property.
